The research activities are directed towards systems that need to provide different levels of functionality, in terms of content and functionality, and interactivity to guide the user towards the information requested, which must be comprehensive, intelligible, unambiguous and reliable, thereby reducing the errors due to the human factor; transferring the user experience to a system allowing knowledge of an individual to be accessible on company levels. Such systems permit, therefore, to adapt existing production processes, or to introduce new ones, in order to increase the competitiveness of companies in terms of safety, quality as well as efficiency and economy of production capacity.

With Virtual Reality CIRA wants to be a national reference to experiment the use of advanced techniques of natural man-machine interaction in first person and for their optimized usage in areas such as maintenance (training for product support and verification of maintainability during design ) and ergonomics (subjective assessment of the passenger cabin comfort). The techniques developed and demonstrable in the form of prototype-demo applications in the identified sectors can be made subjects of industrial evaluation and, subsequently, transferred to industrial manufacturing environments through technological deployment projects: can be, for example, integrated in the existing environments in the design and training areas (virtual reality or design software, interactive man-in-the-loop simulators, Virtual Maintenance Trainer) or acquired on its own rights through a customization of the VR environment runtime software ViRstperson developed by the Laboratory and used for application development.
|

Software Development: analysis, design, implementation and testing of complex SW and/or real-time systems based on the principles of model-based software and system engineering

Information Management: Big-Data Management and integration software with graphical result presentation.

Data Analytics: extraction, organization and retrieval of domain knowledge, present in any form (paper, electronic) and originating from voluminous and heterogeneous sources

Realtà Virtuale:

immersive interactive simulations with physics-based direct manual interaction for training and/or design in application fields such as maintenance (Virtual Maintenance Training, Design-for-Maintainability) and ergonomics;

Local and remote collaboration between several people in the same immersive virtual environment;

High realism multisensory immersive simulation of interiors for subjective evaluation of comfort (an aircraft passenger cabin; applicable also to automotive and other transport medium).

| |
