CASTLE - CAbin Systems design Toward passenger welLbEing

Obiettivo

CASTLE is devoted to achieve an improved and optimized passenger cabin environment with a Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 5, for both Regional Aircraft and Business Jet, with the aim of increasing passenger's well-being.

Cabin interiors will be developed and designed with respect to the human perception, through engineering models and virtual reality. Moreover, new environmental friendly materials and innovative technologies for Noise&Vibration reduction will be developed and tested.

Attività nel progetto CIRA

CIRA contribution concerns the development of new methodologies and technologies for N&V reduction and control (passive and active) for both treatments and seats. Moreover, CIRA will develop a virtual reality environment, fully immersive,  based on a Head Mounted Display (HMD). More specifically, CIRA will be in charge of:

  • Passive and active N&V control treatments design and optimization with respect to the key cabin comfort drivers and psychoacoustic criteria.
  • NVH development and design of comfortable seats limiting acoustic and vibration transmission to the passenger;
  • HMD fully immersive simulations and visual validation to be used for the cabin items design.

Programma

CASTLE is funded by the Clean Sky 2 Programme. Partners won the call for Core Partners "CPW02-AIR-02-08" becoming members of the Joint Undertaking (JU). GEVEN is the Project coordinator.
