This project will last for 3 years and is funded by the Clean Aviation Joint Undertaking.</p><p style="text-align:justify;">The aim of the HERFUSE project is to design the fuselage and empennages of a regional hybrid-electric aircraft with the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions. To achieve this, research will be conducted on the design, materials, and technologies leading to the development of two ground demonstrators for the fuselage and empennages of the hybrid-electric aircraft.<br></p><p style="text-align:justify;">The HERFUSE consortium, coordinated by Leonardo, consists of 28 European partners including industries, SMEs, universities, and research centers. CIRA is the task leader for the conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design of the empennages, which will be investigated in various use cases. Additionally, CIRA is the task leader for the Life Cycle Assessment activity.
