Metrology<img alt="" src="" style="BORDER:0px solid;" /><h3></h3><p></p><h3>Mission:</h3><p>The mission of Metrology laboratory is to guarantee the following services:</p><p>Ensure the management of the calibration programs of all the measuring CIRA sensors and measurement systems.</p><p>Provide services and specialized support to other organizational units of Cira for the development and set-up, as welle as for the analysis of measurement processes and the assessment of their uncertainties.</p><p>Study and develop innovative calibration systems for test processes specially made for aerospace research.</p><h3>Goals:</h3><p>The Metrology laboratory has acquired over the years proven experience in the field of measurements of electrical, pressure, acceleration and thermal quantities.</p><p>Moreover, in addition to the standard measuring systems, it also is able to perform three-dimensional structural deformation measurements by means of the Digital Image Correlation method measuring the displacement, deformations and vibrations in components subjected to applied forces.</p><p>The Metrology Laboratory also acquired important knowledge in relation to the set-up of non standard measuring systems  and the estimation of their uncertainties, also supporting specific requests of laboratories, small and large CIRA test facilities. </p><h3>Research Topics:</h3><ul><li><p>Innovative measurement techniques with applications in aerospace;</p></li><li><p>Calibration Equipment and systems mainly devoted to the needs of CIRA laboratories and testing facilities</p></li><li><p>Innovative sensors with applications in aerospace</p></li></ul><p> </p><p><br></p><p></p>
