IAC 2018<img alt="" src="https://www.cira.it/PublishingImages/IAC%202018.jpg" style="BORDER:0px solid;" />https://www.cira.it/en/communication/news/iac-2018/IAC 2018IAC 2018<p style="text-align:justify;">The 69th edition of the International Astronautical Congress (IAC) entitled "Involving Everyone", was held from 1st to 5th October 2018, in Bremen. The programme was packed with events including conferences, seminars, technical sessions as well as an exhibition.</p><p style="text-align:justify;">Once again, CIRA was present at this significant aerospace sector-related event so as to showcase its programmes, activities and results.</p><p style="text-align:justify;">Inside the institutional Italian Space Agency stand, CIRA presented two mock-ups representing the activities performed within the context of the Hyprob and High Altitude Airship (HAA) programmes: the LOX/LCH4 regenerative combustion chambers for rocket engines and the stratospheric platform for remote sensing operations.</p><p style="text-align:justify;">Moreover, CIRA has also been actively involved in the organisation of the conference programme itself, by both submitting papers and taking part in technical committees.</p><p style="text-align:justify;">By means of the paper entitled "Progress of Research Activities on Electric Propulsion at CIRA" written by Vito Salvatore, Francesco Battista and Daniele Ricci, the activities carried out within the field of electric space propulsion were presented to the public attending the IAC, more specifically referring to the creation of infrastructures and driving forces behind research that got underway once the design stage was concluded and which is currently in progress. </p><p style="text-align:justify;">Instead, by means of the paper entitled "Technological advancements in the HYPROB Project - Demonstrators development line", the main results achieved over the past year within the framework of the "HYPROB-NEW demonstrator development line" project, in particular, the prototype created and the tests carried out within the context of the LOX/LCH4 regenerative propulsion project and the hybrid propulsion system activities conducted in collaboration with the Federico II University in Naples.</p><p style="text-align:justify;">Finally, the preliminary roadmap developed by CIRA relating to the Mars research project was outlined in Nunzia Favaloro's paper entitled "CIRA preliminary roadmap for the development of Mars research project". This aims to achieve both the design and creation of test infrastructures to validate the technologies required for future exploration and planetary colonisation missions, alongside the development of such technologies.<br></p><p style="text-align:justify;">5 October, 2018<br></p><p><br></p>2018-09-27T22:00:00Z
