Develop the Concept of Operations (ConOps) for the perfect integration of all means of transport for seamless door-to-door mobility: this is the goal, fully achieved, of the European X-TEAM D2D project just completed.
The ConOps designed by the international consortium, coordinated by CIRA and including ISSNOVA, DLR, ILOT, D-Flight and the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences, was not only shared with important international stakeholders, through the organization of dedicated workshops, but also validated through a simulation campaign during which various scenarios of integrated multimodal door-to-door connection were considered, between the area surrounding a large metropolis, served by an international hub (the Haarlem area, located in proximity to the Amsterdam Schiphol airport hub) and the area around a smaller city, served by a regional airport (Brunswick area, located near the Hanover regional airport). In this way, the ConOps designed by X-TEAM D2D was assessed both in qualitative and quantitative terms, with respect to a set of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) specifically identified and applied to the considered use cases.
The project results may support the international community in defining the most appropriate research and development paths, based on the proposed ConOps and the related challenges and barriers identified.
