Successful Flight Test Campaign for High-Precision UAV Navigation
CIRA has successfully completed the flight campaign conducted as part of INFRAXNAV-CNCG project (INFRAstructures for NAVigation, National GNSS Competence Center), funded by the Italian Space Agency (ASI) and coordinated by Telespazio.
Tests allowed for the validation, in operational environment, of an innovative technological solution for high-precision UAV positioning, developed entirely by CIRA and based on the new Galileo High Accuracy Service (HAS).
The navigation system developed, which operates in real time, is capable of acquiring data and processing Precise Point Positioning (PPP) solutions using HAS corrections - both via Signal-in-Space (SIS) and Internet Data Distribution (IDD) - as well as processing RTK positioning, which is used as a reference for accuracy assessment.
Results obtained confirmed that the project's objectives had been achieved, demonstrating the effectiveness of solution developed by CIRA in a real-world operational setting.
Flight tests involved colleagues Gianluca Corraro, Luca Garbarino, Luigi Farina, and Giovanni Cuciniello, in close collaboration with Topview, the company that provided the drone and handled the mechanical integration of the payload.
