CIRA at POLITO: AI, Digital Twins and the Future of Aerospace Education

CIRA contributed, through Dr. Fulvio Romano, to the teaching activities of the Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) “Aerospace Innovations Driven by Artificial Intelligence”, coordinated by Politecnico di Torino (POLITO) in collaboration with the partner universities UPC Barcelona and INSA Lyon.

The programme brought together a transnational group of enthusiastic students, guiding them through an inspiring learning journey focused on the major technological innovations that Artificial Intelligence is bringing to the aerospace sector.

CIRA contributed to the programme with the keynote lecture “AI in Tandem with Digital Twins for Aerospace Experimental Infrastructures and Processes”, exploring how Artificial Intelligence and Digital Twin technologies can jointly support the evolution of aerospace experimental infrastructures, testing processes, prediction, optimisation and engineering decision-making.

CIRA also contributed to the workshop “Future Generation of Experts in Aerospace Innovations Driven by Artificial Intelligence: Let’s Design Together a Novel Educational Paradigm”, dedicated to discussing how AI can be effectively integrated into the core disciplines of aerospace engineering and how the education of future aerospace engineers should evolve accordingly.

The initiative, coordinated by Professor Roberta Fusaro of the Polytechnic University of Turin, provided a significant opportunity for international dialogue among universities, research centers, and students, fostering the sharing of knowledge and perspectives on the transformations Artificial Intelligence is bringing to the aerospace sector.
