OPPLA Process Parameters Optimization for the EBM system
Obiettivo
The main goal of the present research project is to acquire a know-how on EBM Technology in order to improve the production quality. More in detail the research activity is aimed at investigating the influence of the process parameters (i.e. speed and beam current) on the EBMed components quality in terms of: microstructural properties, geometrical and dimensional tolerance and surface roughness.
Attività nel progetto CIRA
CIRA activities of the OPPLA project will be:
DOE: at this this stage the main process parameters will be identified and a test matrix will be carried out choosing suitable intervals variables;
EBMed Manufacturing prototypes: several components will be built according to the test matrix defined in the previous activity;
Microstructural and Mechanical Characterization of EBMed Components: Microstructural and Mechanical Characterization tests will be carried out allowing the qualification of the components made by EBM technology;
Data Post Processing: Microstructural and Mechanical Characterization results will be analized in order to find correlation between process parameters and components properties (surface roughness, geometrical and dimensional tolerance, mechanical properties, microstructure, etc).

OPPLA
Structures and Materials, Diagnostic Methodologies and Advanced Measurement Techniques
In the OPPLA project it is proposed to investigate on the EBM process parameters in order to identify those ones that mainly influence the morphological and mechianical properties of the components manufactured by EBM Tech.
