Plasma On! Testing begins on the CIRA CRHET250-MK2 thruster

As part of activities dedicated to space electric propulsion, carried out at the Medium Scale Vacuum Chamber (MSVC) facility, testing has begun on the second unit (MK2) of the CRHET250 Hall-effect thruster developed by CIRA. Compared to the previous MK1 version, this model features a redesigned magnetic field configuration that enables optimized performance.

Ignition and stable operation of the thruster, within the power range of 100 to 300 W, were achieved without difficulty.

The activities will continue with an extensive test campaign aimed at evaluating the thruster’s performance across a broad operating envelope and confirming its potential for future space missions.
