CIRA signs agreement with Airbus for the icing wind tunnel tests of new-generation ice protection systems
A long-term framework agreement has been signed between CIRA and Airbus, finalized to the experimental evaluation of the performances of new generation aircraft ice protection systems.
The agreement is aimed at the execution of aerodynamic and icing test campaigns at the CIRA Icing Wind Tunnel (IWT) and, as reported by Mr Antonio Ragni, head of the facility and Project Manager of the test campaigns, is the most important collaboration ever signed between CIRA and Airbus and designates CIRA as one of the key partners of Europe’s largest aerospace company.
The negotiation follows the successful completion of a previous test campaign, carried out at the CIRA IWT in 2023, in the framework of the EWIPS European Project (see pictures of IWT aerial view and typical icing test result).
