CIRA at the Forefront of the 2025 EREA Annual Event
The 2025 Annual Event of EREA, the Association of European Research Establishments in Aeronautics, took place at the Skyline Venue in Brussels on 1–2 December 2025. CIRA participated with its Director General, Stefania Cantoni, a member of the EREA Board and, on this occasion, appointed Vice Chair for 2026, confirming the Centre’s growing strategic relevance within the European aeronautical research network.
This year’s edition focused on the prospects of collaborative research in the upcoming Multiannual Financial Framework of the European Commission and on the major future challenges facing aviation. The summit was opened by the EREA Chair, Markus Fischer (DLR - German Aerospace Center), who highlighted the key role of European Research Establishments within the aviation ecosystem and in the preparatory activities leading to the next FP10. In his introductory remarks, Fischer also acknowledged CIRA’s increasing contribution to EREA initiatives.
The event also saw the assignment to Marcello Amato (Aeronautical Division Director) of the chairmanship of the EREA Future Sky programme, as well as the confirmation of Francesco Ferrigno and Ignazio Dimino (Strategic Planning and Institutional Relations) as leaders, respectively, of the TRIG (Technology and Research Infrastructures Group) and DRG (Defence Research Group). These appointments entrusted to CIRA further strengthen the Centre’s position within the Association.
