CIRA at the 140th STAI Meeting at the CSIR Laboratories in Pretoria, South Africa

From 19 to 22 October 2025, the 140th meeting of the Supersonic Tunnel Association International (STAI) was held in Pretoria at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) Laboratories.

CIRA, a member of the association since 2000 and currently represented on the Executive Board by Carmelo Izzo, participated in the event by presenting the results of activities dedicated to maintaining and upgrading experimental capabilities. In particular, the presentation outlined the progress achieved in the technological upgrade of the CIRA PT-1 transonic wind tunnel, with a specific focus on the control system update.

The semiannual STAI meeting once again proved to be an important opportunity for sharing experience and knowledge in the field of wind tunnel testing, as well as a moment of dialogue and promotion of potential collaborations among international research centers and institutions.
