LOX / LCH4 propulsion, development of the electroplating technology potentially useful for VEGA-E<img alt="" src="https://www.cira.it/PublishingImages/Hyprob%20camere%20di%20combustione%20rigenerative.jpg" style="BORDER:0px solid;" />https://www.cira.it/en/competences/propulsion/camere-di-combustione-rigenerative-per-motori-a-razzo-lox-lch4/LOX / LCH4 propulsion, development of the electroplating technology potentially useful for VEGA-ELOX / LCH4 propulsion, development of the electroplating technology potentially useful for VEGA-E<p style="text-align:justify;">CIRA in cooperation with <a href="https://www.cecomweb.com/" target="_blank">CECOM srl</a> has developed a technology for the manufacturing of regenerative combustion chambers for LOX / LCH4 rocket engines, thus achieving one of the main objectives of the Hyprob program.</p><p style="text-align:justify;">The test article of the regenerative combustion chamber of the HYPROB project DEMO0A has been realized by CIRA with a design optimized for the electrodeposition process, a process that allows to avoid welded and brazed joints, and so thermally altered parts, increasing robustness and service life.</p><p style="text-align:justify;">The prototype of the combustion chamber undergoes a series of tests, carried out in CECOM, in order to verify its mechanical behavior. The test was a success because of the 150 bar expected, during the test there are pushed up to 200 bar without significant deformations (<0.05 mm) on the most critical parts.</p><p style="text-align:justify;">The development of this process is undoubtedly a step forward towards the realization in Italy of regenerative combustion chambers for LOX / LCH4 rocket engines, also taking into account the LOX / LCH4 engine of the future European <a href="http://www.esa.int/Our_Activities/Space_Transportation/Launch_vehicles/Vega-E" target="_blank">VEGA-E launcher</a>.</p><p style="text-align:justify;">The results were presented at the EUCASS 2017 conference, attracting the interest of the entire international scientific community.<br></p>2018-01-24T23:00:00Z
