He was also accompanied by the Co-ordinator of the Interministerial Committee for Space, Admiral Carlo Massagli.

However, the meeting and talks held between the Chairman of CIRA Morsillo and the NASA Administrator, Jim Bridenstine were of paramount importance.

The second day of the Paris-based aerospace event, that witnessed a visit by the Italian Minister of Defence, Elisabetta Trenta and astronaut Franco Malerba, concluded with the celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the foundation of EREA (the Association of European Research Establishments in Aeronautics) and the renewal, by all research centre members of the association, of the commitment of both a mutual nature and towards the vast network of stakeholders to achieve a competitive and innovative air transport system for future generations.

The document signed recalls the objectives that have led the research centres to join forces, well aware that great results can be achieved when challenges are faced together: being leaders in Europe within the field of applied aeronautical research, improving synergies among the Centres; focusing on innovation also through audacious and revolutionary ideas while making cutting-edge research facilities available in order to tackle current and future challenges.

The showcase of Le Bourget was chosen as the venue for the signing of the joint statement relating to the establishment of a public-private partnership dedicated to Clean Aviation within the context of the Horizon Europe framework programme. Such partnership, to which also CIRA belongs, proposes itself as a natural continuation of the Clean Sky2 Joint Undertaking research programme, declaring its readiness to help the European Union reduce the environmental impact of air transport considering the rapid and continuous growth in mobility, ensuring the achievement of the objectives contained in the Flightpath 2050 while, at the same time, maintaining high levels of safety and competitiveness.

2019-06-20T22:00:00Z
