IFAR 2023, The Future of Advanced Air Mobility and the Challenge of Environmental Sustainability | <img alt="" src="https://www.cira.it/PublishingImages/Evento%20IFAR%201.jpeg" style="BORDER:0px solid;" /> | https://www.cira.it/en/communication/news/14-summit-ifar-su-advanced-air-mobility/IFAR 2023, The Future of Advanced Air Mobility and the Challenge of Environmental Sustainability | IFAR 2023, The Future of Advanced Air Mobility and the Challenge of Environmental Sustainability | <p style="text-align:justify;"></p><p style="text-align:justify;">The IFAR summit, International Forum for Aviation Research, has been inaugurated in Naples, Italy, at the Anton Dohrn Museum, for its 14th edition, organized by CIRA.</p><p style="text-align:justify;">IFAR aims to establish a direct connection among 27 international research organizations, ranging from NASA to JAXA, from Europe to other countries around the world, to discuss the present and future of aerospace research. The discussions begin with global climate objectives and seek to develop a shared understanding of the challenges faced by the global aviation research community.</p><p style="text-align:justify;">The focal point of expert debates is Advanced Air Mobility and its implications for environmental sustainability, safety, and integration with other modes of transportation, with a vision for a multi-modal transportation service.</p><p style="text-align:justify;">The event started on Tuesday, October 17th, and will span four days. The first three days take place at the Darwin Dohrn Museum in Naples, with the direct support of the Anton Dohrn Zoological Station. On the final day, guided tours are planned at the excellent aeronautical technological centers in the Campania region, including Leonardo Pomigliano and CIRA.</p><p style="text-align:justify;">Prof. Antonio Blandini, President of CIRA, opened the summit along with IFAR Chairman and CEO of NRC-Canada, Ibrahim Ymer, and Prof. Chris Bowler, President of the Dorhn Foundation. External guests and industry experts are expected to share their insights on Advanced Air Mobility during today and tomorrow's sessions. Among the participants are Andreas Boschen, Director of SESAR3 JU in Brussels, Valeria Fascione, Regional Councillor for Research, Innovation, and Start-ups, and Carmela Tripaldi, Director of Research and Development Programs for New Technologies at ENAC - National Civil Aviation Authority.</p><p style="text-align:justify;">IFAR 2023 sees a particularly large participation with 24 registered delegations from around the world. This edition holds special significance for CIRA, not only as the organizer but also because it marks the 20th anniversary of the first test of the Icing Wind Tunnel (IWT), the flagship facility for testing aircraft and related systems under icing conditions.</p><p style="text-align:justify;">"For the first time in Italy, the global aviation research community gathers in Naples to discuss urban air mobility, decarbonization, and building a more efficient and sustainable world," says Antonio Blandini, President of CIRA.
