OPTICS - Observation Platform for Technological and Institutional Consolidation of research in Safety
Obiettivo
The
main goals of the project are to:
- Provide a comprehensive overview of EU safety-related research and innovation
activities;
- Assess the contribution of the safety research towards achieving the ACARE
Flightpath 2050 goals;
- Evaluate the overall societal and market impact of the safety research;
- Develop strategic recommendations on the most important research avenues.
These goals are reached by developing a sustainable and low maintenance
“observation platform” to assess relevant aviation safety research both from a
technological and economic perspective.
Attività nel progetto CIRA
CIRA contribution to OPTICS project is to:
perform an extensive survey of relevant research and innovation activities in the field of aviation safety to establish their activities and main results;
establish and apply a methodology to assess research and innovation projects against the expectations of the ACARE SRIA;
Identify barriers that hamper or prevent progress of research and innovation in the delivery of the Flightpath 2050 goals;
Disseminate results.

OPTICS is a Coordination and Support Action of the European Commission that aims to evaluate how well on-going and recent research and innovation is contributing to achieving the Safety goals of Flightpath 2050 and the ACARE Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda.
