SAT-AM project: a new step in production of aircraft structures

The European aviation project SAT-AM is entering its final stage of implementation. On this occasion, the project coordinator, Łukasiewicz – Institute of Aviation, together with project consortium members: Polskie Zakłady Lotnicze Sp. z o. o., Eurotech, Szel-Tech, P.W. Metrol, Ultratech, Zakłady Lotnicze Margański & Mysłowski and Centro Italiano Ricerche Aerospaziali (CIRA) presented the effects of research and development carried out within the project.

SAT-AM (More Affordable Small Aircraft Manufacturing) is a five-year project implemented under the Clean Sky 2 program financed by the European Commission.

The aim of the project participants was to develop new technologies for production of aviation structures for 4-19 seat aircraft category.

The work carried out by the consortium included development of a cabin demonstrator and a composite engine nacelle for M28 aircraft manufactured by PZL Mielec. The nacelle has a potential to replace the metal structure in the future.

A summary of the work related to the implementation of the composite nacelle demonstrator is presented in the video below.
