At CIRA the SAT-AM project Annual Meeting

On 14th and 15th November the annual meeting of SAT-AM project has been held in CIRA. The main objective of SAT-AM (funded in the framework of Clean Sky 2, AIR ITD transvers activity) is the development of specific more affordable manufacturing technologies devoted to the small aircrafts (CS-23 reference regulation). The consortium composed by CIRA and six Polish private companies (PZL Lockeed Martin, EUROTECH, SZEL-TECH, P.W. METROL, ULTRATECH, ZAKŁADY LOTNICZE MARGAŃSKI & MYSŁOWSKI) is coordinated by INSTYTUT LOTNICTWA (the Polish Aerospace Research Center, ILOT). The project is now in the middle of its path at the end of the third year of activity.

The partners have shown to the Clean Sky 2 representatives the 2018 advancements on the ground demonstrator (front fuselage of PZL M28) and flight demonstrator (nacelle of PLZ M28), having a deep focus on technologies like high speed CNC machining, friction stir welding and super-hydrophobic material for ice protection among others. The meeting has certificated the achievement of the main goals, projecting the consortium in the next crucial years when the flight of the updated PZL M28 with technologies developed in SAT-AM is expected.

The meeting has been divided into technical sessions and visit session to CIRA facilities. In addition a visit in TECNAM, European leader in the development of SAT, has been held.
