Space System

The mission of the Space Systems Unit is to ensure the development of national and international research and services programs and to contribute to the Company business competitiveness for the sector and the disciplines according with its competencies, ensuring the definition and development of typical competencies and facilities.

Development of the specific business, through the promotion of business opportunities, monitoring and analysis of scenarios and preparation of new initiatives, both at project and program level, in order to adequate the typical skills and competencies and facilities availability to market needs and to support other Business Units

Engineering, planning, management and coordination of the full swing maintenance of in-flight and on-ground test laboratories and facilities

Project Management for the activities of definition and architectural design and of technological development and design

System analysis activities and mission definition of operational scenarios, system and subsystem configuration (structures and mechanisms, on-board avionics, propulsion, etc.), contributing to the system integration phases and operational phases

Technical and programmatic management of R&D activities related to:
a) development and validation of enabling technologies for the development of  demonstrators and flight platforms, systems for planets and solar system  natural satellites exploration
b) development and qualification of measurement and diagnostic systems for in-flight testing applications
c) development and validation of methods for testing, modification of existing facilities and constructing new facilities for on-ground testing

Technical management of the activities related to payload integration of scientific-technological experiments to be realized on flying test beds

Management and coordination of flight campaign operations and on-ground tests management

Test data extrapolation, analysis and distribution

Development and updating of knowledge and skills in diagnostic and measurement systems for high temperatures gasdynamics applied both to plasma facilities and flying test beds
