The EREA Best Paper Award 2017 goes to CIRA<img alt="" src="" style="BORDER:0px solid;" /> EREA Best Paper Award 2017 goes to CIRAThe EREA Best Paper Award 2017 goes to CIRA<p style="text-align:justify;">CIRA has won the EREA Best Paper Award 2017, the prestigious award given every year by the Association of European Research Centres for Aeronautics.</p><p style="text-align:justify;">On November 29, during the EREA Event held in Brussels, the Chairman of EREA, Bruno Sainjon, and the Director for Policy Development and Coordination at the DG for Research and Innovation of the European Commission, Kurt Vandenberghe, presented the award to the CIRA researcher, Pierluigi Iannelli, author of the paper "Comparison of Optimization Strategies for High-Lift Design" together with Mauro Minervino, of Piaggio Aero Industries at the time of publication and currently a researcher at CIRA, Rita Ponza and Ernesto Benini of the University of Padua, and Frédéric Moens of ONERA.</p><p style="text-align:justify;">The article, also published in the AIAA Journal of Aircraft (Vol 54, No. 2, March-April 2017) is the result of research carried out as part of the European project "DESIREH" (DEsign, SImulation and flight REynolds number testing) and in particular the Work Package that saw CIRA collaborate not only with ONERA, Piaggio and the University of Padua, but also with DLR, AIRBUS and CASA.</p><p style="text-align:justify;">The 20 or more scientific articles competing for the award were presented by the research centres belonging to EREA and evaluated by an international jury of 9 scientists appointed by the Centres themselves and a Scientific Officer of the European Commission.</p><p style="text-align:justify;">CIRA also competed with two other papers of high scientific merit.<br></p><p style="text-align:justify;">November 30th, 2017<br></p><p><br></p>2017-11-29T23:00:00Z
